December 30, 2013

thanks mom! the assistants called me on friday and told me i am being transfered to trinidad! so its going to be a new experience! i am super excited to go and start out fresh when i got here i had a fire burning and then the senior couple work that we had to do just put us into a nose dive strait into the ground and its been so hard trying to get out of that rut being in this area so the lord really knows that i need a fresh stary in arema trinidad! maybe keith served there that would be really cool if he did! i could check his investigators and members! that would be awesome!!!!! this time i have had with Elder Dohrman has been short but schweet!! he is an awesome missionary and he truly has a desire to serve and help everyone he comes into contact with its so amazing how much attitude means to everyone and if someone has a bad attitude people nodice and a good attitude people trust! anyways im glad that you are home cold safe and sound! there was no damage here from the storm but ya the lightning was amazing!!! i sat up in the window a few times to watch it and it sceemed that it was always flazhing super bright and super loud thunder like it was right there but i was way to tired to stay up and watch it so i fell asleep!

donna emailed me about her baptism and she sceems soooo stinkin happy! she is awsome! i pray that i can have that much of the spirit with me and the attitude that she has toward the church and heavenly father.
i am so excited to go to trinidad and be able to serve the people there i am out of the mud of a rough time and startin off fresh and excited!!!! and i get a car haha im drivin big supprize haha im not to excited but at least i have driven a little here so i have gotten used to driving on the left! it sceems normal now it will take a while to get used to driving back home again but it should be fine! anyways i love you all so much thanks for being there for me so inspiring! I like your profile picture it reminds me of the view i see every day when i walk out of the apartment! hahaha its so amazing here this week my companion is going home and there is still no work permits and so we will only have three Elders on the island who knows maybe someone will be leaving the island i hope it is not me!!! i love this place! well i dont have to much time but this last week we were in a threesom and we were walkin down the road when smeone yelled out to us its the three wisemen from afar so from now on i am calling it a three wise men! it was awesome!

if you were here it would be easy to think about the river because it is warm almost to warm but thats okay! i only have gotten a little distracted with it! i heard dad and Eli went skiing that makes me jellous! i am so excited to go with him when we get back that will be so fun!!! any ways im sorry to have to run but we have a fhe appointment at 5 and so we will have to be real quick! i love you all so much! keep up the great work! happy holidays!!!!!

December 9, 2013

it scared me when I read that you were sending zaks package to the mission home I thought you were talking about me! lol I have had a hard time getting into the christmas spirit because it is so warm here its hard but we decorated our apartment and it has turned out really helpfull! my companion and I have been getting along a lot better now I have learned to better serve and to help him when he is not on his a game he is super trunkie because he goes home in a week and a half and that's why I have been struggleing because it makes me trunkie! but as we went on a hike the other day to cool some steem and it was with an investigator and member we were able to blow off some steem and I carved a wooden knife from a stick that I found! it was great! it really helped me Elder Cornish told me to widdle because it is something physical with me hands and everyone knows that I am a hands on kinda person and that's how I can handle stress! it was great! the senior couple is not legally on the island but they are here and doing what they can which is great because it has allowed us to do missionary work as we are suppost to! anyways sorry I gotta keep it short some good socks would be nice! and maybe some skittles or twikies! :) love you all and happy birthday to eli!!! love ya! Love Elder Hazlett

December 2, 2013

This week was a blast! we didn't realize that you need to thaw the turkey for so long but everything turned out alright! no one got sick! this week i have been thinking alot of the great examples i have had in my life and one person stuck out to me Brian Nelson as we went to get new tires for the cars that we have i watched as the guy put them on and it really took me back to all the times in the shop with him and everything i learned from him and also he helped me and encouraged me when i didnt think i could do things he has made me realize that our weaknesses are truly a blessing!! for if i didn't have the weaknesses that i have i wouldnt learn! i would just be there but those weaknesses nake it so everything is worth the fight! and of coarse i cant make this totally trunkie so i related it to the gospel! i may not have the strongest or toughest hands heck i can hardly open a coke bottle now but thats because i have put down the wrench and picked up the gospel! and it has truly make me realize what ether was saying in chapter 12 that our weaknesses are there so we will work on them and thats how they become strong!

in the spirit of christmas we put up some christmas lights in our apartment and made a ton of snowflakes it was so much fun singing carols and stuff! yesterday at church it was a recipie for disaster it was fast sunday and it was raining and also the medical students have finals this week but all in all we had good attendance usually when it rains alot of the locals here stay inside its pretty funny but most of the people cane and we even had an investigator there it was awesome!!!

The senior couple are on the island for a time so we can train them on what they need to do befor Elder dall goes home on the 17th hopefully we get the work permits so everything is not dumped on me to do all that stuff! i know i am not able to do the things that need to get done but if it comes it will probably be a treat blessing for me! for we would have to go talk to high people in the government and stuff like that and also work on computers! which i can learn it will just take some time and the lords help it will be an interesting christmas! it will be good though! the lord will provide!!! anyways i love you all and tell holly and violet that i love them and yes holly i see that you got two cats! i saw the pictures! they are wonderful!!! love ya love Elder Hazlett

November 25, 2013

today were having thanksgiving dinner with the zone and of coarse there is no senior couple on the island to make it so we have to do it! we got the turkey and i was in charge of cleaning it out because everyone was to grosed out to stick there hand into the turkey! lol it was super funny! anyways not much else has happened this week it was transfers again and of coarse i stayed here haha i dont feel like im leavin any time soon! as far as the work permits there done but there wanting us to pa for each of them which wouldnt be a problem except there about a thousand dollars each $3,000 EC each which rounds down to about $1125 usd and there are like 15 of them so its going to be an interesting next couple of weeks here on grenada! the mission is only sending its very best here! its a struggle because the work permet is a work permet exemption form which means free! lol but o well whatever happenes the lord has his hand in it! he loves us all and really wants us to be happy and to just serve him holey and just get out there and go to work and do it! if we over think what were going to say we will just confuse others but if we humbly and intently listin the spirit will give us what to say! it also gives us those instances of jenious! which i am not because i dont even know how to spell it! hahah i always remember those times when were in the office trying to figure something out and then i sugest something and its perfect i know that is the spirit speaking to me! and i love it! if we dont have the spirit with us we are not listining to it! i pray that we will all always be listining to the spirit! when my pore companion got a call from the ministry saying that we have to pay for the work permits he got supper stressed and e couldnt figure out why i was so calm untill i told him im not worriein about it because its out of our hands there is nothing we can do but to go out and work and sace soules and do the things that we need to do! and teach people with the spirit! i love this gospel! and as we learn to over come our pride and get to work we will be blessed and i love you all and love this gospel!!! im sorry i gotta run but we gotta get cookin love ya! Love Elder Hazlett!!!!!

November 18, 2013

1 Timothy 4:15 meditation is what the prophets have told us since the beginning! we have been studying that and that is really how the spirit truly speaks to us! its such a great thing to be able to have! this past fast sunday we had a branch fast for the work permets to come in so we will be able to have the new missionaries come in and what I realized was it was not just up to us to fast and then just do the same thing and just wait for them! but instead we learned that we needed to send or relief society president sister jane who has been baptized just about a year and she is such a strong member and she knows someone in the ministry and so we went in and found the problem and now its just about getting them to do their work! lol its stressfull but it is what we have to do! waiting 4 months for something that should only take 3-4 weeks is redicuolos but anyways so what happened is between one department to the next they somehow got lost so we went in and tracked them down and they should be in by the end of this week! were hoping for that because our numbers have dwindled from 12 to 6 its crazy! inyways sister jane has gotten us teaching her friends her light is truly going strong! its humbling to see such a great person like her in our branch we are teaching her son and her friends who work in her bakery! its some good bread and stuff!its been so great learning my way around this island I sceem to know ware most everything is now and ill tell you it is super confusing to drive on the left side of the road but its awesome at the same time! anyways! I know that this gospel is true and that god lives and loves us all! im so excited about this gospel! and the joy it brings to us and others!!!! I love you all Love Elder Hazlett!!!

November 11. 2013

as alot of people say down here peace and love! having thought about it we really should slow down a little and see things as they really are its like the picture in our house the one right when you open the door if you look at the big picture you see a cool picture of a trees and stuff but if you look really closly you will see that its made up of tiny little dots and thats what form the picture all working in perfect unity! to make a beautiful picture! same with the play and the football team! we see the play and we see how awesome it is but ot alot of people get to see the behind the sceens of them and its really the small things that matter! as well as the big ones!

me and elder dall have had two missionaries move in with us and they are so funny its crazy i cant really explain whats going on but we will just say that there not the most obedient or observant ones and they are always making mistakes the funny ones like taking the spair key to there appartment as well as all the others it was great but i am not here to make fun of them every time they do something all i can here in my head is dad saying, Think Jed!!! and i realize that i need to think and learn from others experiences anyways i love them even though i may not show it as much i think i picked up dad's state of mind when i poe fun at you it meens i love you! haha

Yesterday we went to the relief society presidents house who was baptized just over a year ago and she had a friend over named kevin (kevon is how they say it here) and he had some questions for us and the book of mormon and sadly we didnt have enough time so we schedualed a return appointment for wendsday! and opefully we will have a new investigator! so far the senior couple and the other missionaries work permets have not come in and if they dont come in by next week im afraid that Elder Dall wil be leaving and even thought he has been trunki i have learned t love and help him in the best ways possable which is great! but if he leaves that means that the responsability will fall on me because there is noone else on the island who is capable or is to young in the mission. i really hope they come in soon because i dont know if i can handle the responsibility of that! im sure being related to mom i would be fine! i might have to ask for some help with learning to use the computer or something!! haha all will be well ill just be taking one step at a time and im sure it will be good for me no matter how hard it would be! its hard i know but it will be worth it! ill be better able to run a company! :) anyways i have really been thinking lately of love and how much the lord loves us and our savior jesus christ! who loves us so much he is willing to suffer death for us! well i love you all and i hape your all doing great! Love Elder Hazlett!

ps dad i want to see pictures of the plain you built! love ya! ;)

November 4, 2013

Halloween was interesting we didn't realize that Halloween was this wek until Thursday at around noon when we saw a bunch of the medical student families in costume it was funny! but other than that not much happened! we had another baptism because of the sisters in the area are on fire! and there baptizing grips of people they are baptizing almost weekly and me and my companion are getting burned out of the senior couple stuff! im fine as much as I can be haha its fun! its worth it! a talk from I think Elder Holland keeps coming into my hear its about a soldier or a missionary thatwrights ar prays it has been a long time since I read it but it says hope you know I had a hard time! and I have realized that a mission no matter how hard or easy it may sceem its still worth it and it really will change you!

sadly the grenadians don't celebrate Halloween and thanks giving is in October so its nuts but its worth it its really funny to see the cultural difference between the people here and back home! I love it here!

things I am gratefull for? I am gratefull for the means to serve the lord and all the oppurtunities that he has givin us to serve our neaber and also for loving family who are funny supportive even when I am not the perfect child that they want me to be! I am trying its hard but its worth it! I was reading in preach my gospel about the sabath day and it was really humbling to see what the spirit revealed to me it was that if we want to keep the saboth day holey then we need to go into it with a singleness of heart and to look forward and look up for guidance! not much else happened this week and I am so thankfull for a loving heavenly father and his son Jesus Christ thay they have sacrificed so much for us to experience this life! I love you all and hope you are all doing well! love Elder Hazlett

October 28, 2013

this week i have really focused on patience not just because i have had to be patient with everything but also studying it! waiting on things was something i was never really fond of! but what it has really taught me this week is when we have patience we are able to slow down and enjoy the beauty of life! instead of getting frusterated with things we sometimes just need to take a step back think about the beautiful things in life and go into solving our problems with patience! i remember when i was changing the oil in the white bus last fall it started out going easy until the oil filter would not come out it was to tight and at this point it started to snow and was gettin really cold and i was gettin frusterated then sarah pulled up and was talking to me about life and stuff and that made me step back talking to her regain my compouser and go back at it! it kept getting cold but instead of getting frusterated i used patience and a little retard strenth as a mechanic calls it and i got it off after putting a crow bar threw it lol it came off and in the falling snow i got it right off and back together its such a great thing to realize that sometimes god puts others in our paths because we dont see that were gettin iritated so he helps us!

this week we were able to attend zone conference in barbados and yup most missionaries for zone conference have to drive a couple hours or so! we have to get on a plain and go to a totally different country lol the total time we spent in the airport this week with the 2 hour delay on the way over and the 9 hour delay on the way back was about 15 hours it was insain but we were patient and got home! it was funny to see everyone gettin frusterated and then calm down as soon as someone would say something nice or slow down and look at the beautiful things in life!

just happened to look up at the tv screens and saw alot of negative things about obama care and stuff like that and how the government is shut down i just thought it was cool because the prophets of old have warned us about this and its amazing to see things unfolding! still no sighs of new missionaries commin into the island haven't heard from the government i think they think they are the US government lol its been almost 4 months and they said it would take 3-4 weeks o well patience patience patience

my companion is a great person but he is going home soon and has gotten really trunkie we have been stayin inside alot o well its hard the lord knows i have something to learn from this experience and i hope its just what i need to become like christ! i love you all its so good to hear from you! Love Elder Hazlett

ps: can i get connie's email i want to say hello! :)

baptism in one of the most scenic baptismal fonts in the world there is no font on the island since the church is litterally a stons throw from the ocean they desided that we dont need one! haha its gorgious! alot of those sunset pictures on the dropbox are taken from the church! lol its really a beautiful place!

October 21, 2013

one of the things I have learned this week is I am not good at reading wrighting or math or teaching and stuff like that but I have read what Enos has taught about prayer in chapter 1 verses 1-10 and I have really come to know that I have these weaknesses so I would be able to teach someone to there understanding or in other words to the understanding of a first grader because that's about ware my understanding of the English language is lol. however it is great because it really has given me the desire to learn and to ask questions as I never liked to do I always just here what people have to say and continue on and forget it but I have learned that I need to be more like dani and ask questions she wouldn't know this but I really looked up to her and her true desire to learn about everything even though it was kind of annoying some times I always wanted her around me so she would ask a question so I could answer them and really just learn how to ask questions and that's kinda how our companionship studies have been I have come across a word I don't understand im able to ask my companion who sceems to be full of infinat knowledge!

The weather has been fairly mice here it has been sunny and hot and humid and rainy lol. that's cool that eli found cats to nurse back to health nothing much has changed here were havin a nother baptism this weekend and also its zone conference so were all flying to Barbados its cool not many missionaries can say they have to fly to zone comference lol

I Put a bunch of pictures on drop box so you can get them off and save them there also if you want me to get pictures from home you can pit them on there or you can email them and I can do it!

I think one of the reasons me and zak didn't need as much support from you and dad was because 1 we were always kinda learning stuff with eachother ware eli doesn't have someone as close as me and zak are but that's ok because he really needs the support he is an awesome kid and im so excited to see him grow and become the man god has in plan for him! I have also been reflecting on all of the scouting activities and how much fun we had growing up and one that came to mind was the campout up at dark canyon and it was storming all night and we all thought we were guna be struck by lightning but we all survived that was a fun experience and scouting really helped me become who I am today and I wish I took it more seriously I really wish I would be able to be at the 100th anaversary thing but I am doing other scout activities I am scouting out souls who need the gospel and doing a good tern daily.

I hope everything is going great there as it is slowly here the senior couple has not yet gotten here but that's okay were doing the best we can with what we got! its hard but were getting it down! elder dall and I have made a deal! he teaches me big words and computers and stuff like that and I teach him how to drive smooth and easily :) its great this week we had to get the cars serviced and sadly I cannot just do it so we have to take them to the dealership and have them do it it is ridiculous we sat there for almost 5 hours just for them to change the oil and it cost about $80 US for something that I can do in 20 min for $30 lol o well its the policy that we need to follow and obedience is the best way for happieness!!!

Christmas package you can pretty much send whatever here its fairly safe still I wouldn't put anything valuable in it but maybe one pair of he chaco shoes eather the boot like ones that are black or the other ones I believe I am able to wear tennis shoe like black shoes if there conservitave I would change the laces to black and such but ill ask sister Mehr to make sure of that and also it would be really great to get a pair of temple pants because I cannot find my other ones I think someone took them in st Vincent. could you send me a hat that I can wear on p-day just maybe an nrs hat or something like that it would be great to have one!  and anything you see I would need :) your amazing at getting what we need so I know you can handle that. its funny here they have already started decorating for Christmas since they don't do Halloween they just do chiritmas and there thanksgiving is October 25 so its this week and then the next is Christmas so its great! anyways I gotta get to doin dtuff I love you all so much and pray that you are all happy and well! love Elder Jed Hazlett

October 14, 2013

we felt the earth quake friday night just after teen after nightly calls and it was really cool! kinda scary but it was funny it didnt hit hard at all but it shook up the whole island! this last week we have been really busy with nore of the senior couple stuff they have not allowed any more missionaries onto the island as of yet which is kinda annoying but i guess its what we gotta do is just have patience is all we can do i know the lord has his hand in this whatever it is we will push forward!!! we have zone conference coming up ware we will go to barbados and we will learn from the mission President and the assistants.

thats awesome that logan and dallen got back and gave great talks it sure has been a great experience for them from the sounds of it!! the mission is so hard but its totally worth it! i love every minute of it! and i wouldnt trade it for highwater cat!!! although i dream about it alot i try not to focus on that i try to focus on helping others! its been such a great blessing by doin that

i hope you all will have enough wood for the winter! it sounds like the snow might be much better this year i heard its been stormy in salt lake is colorado gettin anything? i sure hope so! any ways i have taucht everyone how to make doughnuts like we do in the river lol and sadly i dont like them to much so i dont eat alot of them so i guess its good! lol i Hope fran's husband gets feeling better this life is tough but its great and its what we need to build us! conference was amazing!!!!! i cannot describe how good and how fast it went by holy cow! it has never gone by so quickly! any ways i got alot to do still i love you all and think about you always Remember attitude is everything or the way i see it grattitude is everything!! Love Elder Hazlett

here is a few picture of part of the area its takin a long time to load so i only can send a couple

August 19, 2013

This last week was a rough one again. We got back into our area and everything was fine. Then elder Payne got sick again so most of the week we stayed inside! I have gotten better and staying still though! Then today we had the opportunity to hike up to MTN la Seufrea its the volcano on the island and its about 3/4 the way of the dolls house and not quite as steep! So naturally I was in my flips and everyone else was in tennis shoes. They were all making fun of me and all I said was KEEP UP. I stopped every so often because we were walking through the rain forest and its very foresty! Every 30 seconds or so I had to stop because I would be out of sight from the others! lol it was surly funny! It was amazing being up there!  This next week is transfers and so yeah we get our calls this week and hopefully we will get two more missionaries out in George Town because the area is huge and we have hardly touched it, let alone seen it. We have been within 5 miles of our house and that’s about it! We walk so it is difficult but we do catch travel via van sometimes! It’s a really desolate place hopefully we will get a car this next transfer probably not. I’m hoping because then we would not have to worry about packing all of our stuff to spend the night in town in our backpacks! It’s nuts because we travel back it takes about an hour on a very windy road and we have to take our groceries on the packed van with our bags back to George town it’s a lot of fun!!
 Love Elder Hazlett!!

October 7,2013

this weekend was fantastic! the church is true! this weekend we had 6 elders staying in our apartment and so naturally i gave up my bed and slept on the floor and man it reminded me of sleeping on a paco pad i slept like a rock! it was so nice lol. there were alot of fantastic talks this weekend all were very inspired and uplifting. I have really been studing the prophets words and he is really an amazing man and he really does have authority from god to teach his people!  also karen fron st. vincent got baptized this weekend Elder Payne called after the first saturday session to tell me! it was amazing when i left she felt she didnt need baptism to be a member of the church but she had probably the best fellowshiper i have ever seen sister samuel she would be over at karens house every day talking about the gospel and reading the book of mormon! it was amazing not a whole lot has happened here in grenada the sisters baptized someone i was able to witness it and also last sunday someone else was baptized it was great since i have been out i am thinking that the lord wants me to learn how to run an office because thats basically what we have been doing i sit all the time and i have gained a few lbs from it but thats okay its worth it! i wish we could do more missionary work but as soon as we try we have way to much to do so we cant teach them its not the best but its how its going to be! so far its been 6 weeks without a companion he is waiting for his work permit to come in along with everyone else and the senior couple so its kinda stressfull but then again i dont get stressed out haha i just do it and thats something i have learned just keep moving forward and when the goin gets tough the though gets goin!!

with the drop box thing i have not put any pictures on it yet but i will when we go to the church this evening or tomorrow or next week when i remember my camera lol im so forgetfull its funny! o well the lords love is amazing! i really love hearing from dad he is such a great example to me!!! and hearing all the experiences he has had over the years is such a great blessing to me and i am so greatfull for a wonderfull family that the lord has blessed me with its amazing to feel the love that everyone has for eachother even though we may fight alot we really do love eachother and would do anything for them if they need it im so thankfull for the means by which i have grown up with i see others here one of which was really caught up in video games and it was kinda sad he said that he played one game for over 1000 hours thats just one game and then he went on to tell us all about how awesome it was and stuff like that and the whole time i was thinking what are you getting out of that? and i realized and we talked about it and the only thing that one could get out of it is to not play them as much thats 41 days of his life spent in front of a screen! thats almost more than i have driving lol its nuts! i just thought of all the things i could do with 41 days and it was astonishing you could get very good at any sport or instrument or you could just sit glued to a screen and eat mac and cheese out of the pot that you cooked it in! lol im truly glad that i was never into video games to much ya i played them and i probaably did more than i should have but i could still function in the real world its very interesting i really went into that discussion with an open mind and not one part of it made me feel like i wanted that it was nuts! any ways it was a great topic and a great discussion any ways i gotta run! love you all so much

Love Elder Hazlett!!!

September 30, 2013

that's so great to hear of everything going in in moab! thanks so much for finding the new era I can print it off and use it it will be such a great thing here its just what they need this transfer has only a week left and it has been chaos the entire time I have been sitting so much which as you know me I don't like sittin much but it has really given me a great opportunity to study the gospel and to concker the challenge that our mission president has challenged us to do and I invite everyone to participate in the challenge as well for I feel that it would be a great blessing to everyone there expecally the prospective missionaries! we have been challenged to memorize a section of d&c 121 about the priesthood its long but I promis that as you study this you will be able to truly understand the priesthood its verses 34-46 its 405 words long but if I can memorize it to the point ware I can recite it no problem in just three days of an hour a day I know that you can all do it its easy I have kinda learned how to memorize stuff a lot better! I just gotta make it flow the right way and it just happens. it was hard I had to wright it out a hundred times but nit was worth it I have truly learned and understood a lot more about the priesthood! its such a great blessing to kow that we have the power to do all things but if we missuse them they will be withdrawn from us and we will be left unto ourselves to kick against the pricks and to persecute the saints and to fight against god! or in other words we are left by ourselves if we turn away and we will be left to break the rules only to receive the consequences. and also to persecute everyone around us and make fun of them and rebel against god! the devel is very cunning! and he is so  smart it kinda makes him stupid! haha what I have learned from that is that the weaknesses how they become strong is that the lord provides us with the opertunity for us to figure out our own way to do things! Im still workin on the math and spelling and stuff but it is going great otherwise! the spiritual and physical parts of us are so true I need to start excersiging more I have been so busy but at the same time I feel like I am doing nothing! one thing I have truly learned by watching hastening the work of salvation is that the missionaries are here not to find people to teach but we are here to assist the members in there missionary efforts its slow but by working with the members it has really helped me know that the lord loves us all well I hope everything is goin well there its goin great here struggles as always but they make us stronger keep movin forward!! love you all!! Love Elder Hazlett

that's awesome that everything is going so well this past few weeks have really been a struggle for me because of all the senior couple stuff we have to be doing its been a real struggle but we have been pushing threw it Elder Dall is my my companion and its just been chaos the whole time we have been together its been really hard staying abedient with the mission rules because of my rebellious and proud spirit that I have but I know that I have not been so rebellious as to doing anything stupid but just not doing the little things like praying before I study or when I wake up and the little things like that! yesterday in church during the sacrament hymn "I stand all amazed" it really hit me that I need to be doing a lot better than I am and so I promised my heavenly father that I will strive to live all the mission rules and do everything I need to do to be a better missionary! Elder jeppson just left the island and he was the district leader and so now we don't have one as of yet we are waiting on president Mehr to call us back my fingers are crossed because I have a feeling that he will call me to be the district leader and that as you all know is a big responsibility and I know that who the lord calls he qualifies but im perfectly content with being just a normal missionary that works hard so we don't know as of yet who it will be but we will hear soon it would be good both ways and eather way I will grow from the experience I will have here. anyways that's just one of the crazy things that's going on people are comeing back and forth on and off the island its just crazy to see the haslining of the work itn the areas of the west indies its really humbling to know that we are here because the lord has given us the chance to prove ourselves upon this earth and to help others. the smiths were right the west indies is probably the hardest mission in the world and it is deffinatly the most expensive its rediculious here but its worth it! I love it and I wouldn't trade it even for high water cat! that's s great to hear the lessons you all have been learning this week I love hearing all about whats going on there. the smiths came onto the island this last week and it was great to get them auanted with the people and the island a little bit there really excited to come here whenever there permets come in.

we had a baptism this last Saturday and it was amazing the spirit was so strong! as soon as I get my camera stuff ill send some pictures home! I cant think of a better place I could be than grenada right now! I know you have probably been waiting for this letter for a while now but I want you to know that I will do my best and keep moving forward as the movit meet the robensens and also dorie just keep tracting just keep tracting we have found a few awesome new investigators one of them is moving to Canada and just added me on facebook his name is devon wells he is awesome im not sure ware he is going to live exactly but he will be leaving to go up there Thursday and hopefully he will be aBLE TO ATTEND CHURCH THERE ANYways I don't have to much time so I just want to say that I know the book of Mormon is true and I know that god lives and I love this gospel so much and I love you all and I hope you have a great day! Love Elder Hazlett!!!

September 9, 2013

i heard chelsie read my letter to everyone haha thats so great it was a funny time my mind was just wondering it was great! this week went by slow we spent three days in the church doing senior couple stuff none of the missionaries have come in yet so we are still stuck together but the assistants came here for a couple of days to help out and we were able to get some missionary work done! One of the nights this week the church was broken into and they stole a flat screen tv and the pa system in the chapel except for the speakers it was crazy so the next day we spent part of the day with the members putting more and better lock systems on the doors and stuff it was great and then they had us go make a bunch of new keys for the church it was great hopefully we will get our companions soon and as of yet i am not training but i will be in the future some time soon its been great being here with a strong branch and its been a blessing to have a car even though the elder that is driving us around is a very scary driver im still gratefull to be in a car instead of walking! its fun!! how are things with kim and chris?? i hope everything is well with them! i wish i could see her now and see how much she has grown up! its so amazing being a missionary and i would highley recomend serving a mission to everyone the spirit you feel as a missionary is so amazing its so humbleing to realize that we are simply tools in the master mechanics hands its amazing!!!! thats great violet is turning into ivy with the reading! reading is so great haha anyways i should probably email my mission president if i have time after ill send another email! love ya loads and im so thankfull for your wonderfull example!!! love Elder Hazlett!!!!

September 2, 2013

so this week has been crazy we first off there are three of us who have not gotten our companions because grenada is being dumb and wont let them in because they don't have a work permit and that is also the case with the senior couple so there is three of us working two areas my area is the same as one of the others were just working together with it because ther are running errands for the senior couple o man I am so gratefull for senior couples and we need a lot more!!!!! there is a lot going home and only a few comeing out! elder oaks said that the west indies mission would not be possible without the senior couples its so true we are so busy with all of that stuff any ways the two elders I am with are both from Utah and one Elder Jeppson is in Brian Merrell's stake and is real close to him so instantly we bonded and then we talked some more and I found my long lost twin! its crazy!! everything except he is a little more smart with books and stuff but that's ok! he is great! then there is elder dal who is stuck with us and knows nothing about cars but he is always busy with senior couple errands its fun!

in your testimony your right joseph smith was a prophet of guide! haha was there a pun intended?? I thought it was funny and I am so gratefull for your wonderfull testimony and example in my life its great to know that I have you and dad to rely on when I fall its hard but its worth it!

Transfers came this week and i have been assigned to go to the island of grenada! my comp. and i are blanking the area so it will be interesting! but im excited to go! yesterday was a great day in church we had two of our members speak and then Elder dickerson who was transfered in the middle of the week to be with us and he bore his testamony and then because i am leavin i was able to bare my testamony and everyone there complimented on how quickly i have gotten out of my shy state and how much more relaxed and relyant on the spirit i am it was really good! then it was also my turn to teach gospel prncipal's class and the whole time i kept thinking to my self this is not me teaching this is the spirit! it was a great lesson!

Bro. cain is a boss he is not all there in the head but he knows the church is true and he loves the missionarys. this friday i went on splits with him and Elder Payne and Elder dickerson went to teach someone else it was great the lord teaches in very crazy but cool amazing ways Elder Payne gets annoied with brother Cain but i find him awesome however he does say things that shouldnt be said or in the wronk way but thats okay i love teaching with him. sadly i am leaving to grenada so i wont teach with him any more but i bet i will have some great experiences there! since i am leaving i am so far away from george town and i thought i had them but it turns out that i left my camera battery charger in our appartment and also the card reader and the cord so hopefully i will find a way to get it back ill get it one way or the other just wont be sending pictures soon :( o well on the good note we went to the beach again today and played frisbee and cricket it was a blast!  this next area is called St.Georges Gran anas and from what i hear its the city part of the island so it should be interesting. well i gotta email President Mehr still i love ya so much and im so gratefull for the example you and dad have set for me!!! love Elder Jed Hazlett

August 19, 2013

thats awesome that holly is doing so well with school and also eli! the only reason i wanted to go to school was to play in the sand box and eat the lunch haha but i learned alot!!! im really glad that the chris and ivy thing went over so well i was a but worried but then i knew chris and ivy would be just fine chris is a great guy just makes a joke about it! haha this last week was a rough one again because we cot back into our area and everything was fine and then elder payne got sick again so most of the week we stayed inside! i have gotten better and staying still though! and then today we had the oppertunity to hike up to mtn la seufrea its the volcano on the island and its about 3/4 the way of the dolls house and not quite as steep! and so naturally i was in my flips and everyone else was in tennis shoes and they were all makeing fun of me and all i said was KEEP UP and so naturally i stoped every so often because we were walking threw the rain forest and its very foresty! so every 30 seconds or so i had to stop because i would be out of sight from the others! lol it was surly funny! it was amazing being up there ill send some pictures when i get a chance! or maybe ill just have sister Bird put them up on facebook for me! this next week is transfers and so ya we get our calls this week and hopefully we will get two more missionarys out in george town because the area is huge and we have not hard;y touched it let alone sceen it we have been within 5 miles of our house and thats about it! were walking so it is difficult but we do catch travel via van sometimes! its a really dessolate place hopefully we will get a car this next transfer probably not but im hopeing because then we would not have to worrey about packing all of our stuff to spend the night in town in our backpacks! its nuts because we travel back it takes about an hour on a very windy road and we have to take our grosheries on the packed van with our bags back to george town its alot of fun!! wel i love ya hope to hear from ya soon! Love Elder Hazlett!! or as everyone calls me here elder hazleo lol

August 12, 2013

Eli is going to be the best missionary the world has ever known!!! I recently taught the gospel principals class a couple weeks ago and the lesson was on the holy ghost. i really wish i could remember things better i have been working on it but sometimes i just get so frusterated i have to go do the dishes or something the book of mormon battles that you gave me has all the b. of m. charictors in it and Elder payne and i play that we read the description and if we get it right on the first try we get the points so far i have not won a game but i am getting better and it has really made the scriptures come to life for me its amazing
for Eli How the holy ghost changed my life. I remember i was just about your age playing with the tonka trucks in the sand box and with chloe and i was not having a good day i had a rough day at school and when i got home ivy and zak were fighting and being kindof rude to me so i went outside and was playing when a scripture came into my head that mom had read to me a few weeks before its ether chapter 12 verse 27 and that day was some big thing at school i cant remember what it was but it was improtant for school and i knew because i couldnot remember how to spell or i would get the numbers mixed up in math that i did not do good at all in fact i think i failed it and everyone made fun of me!  and when this scripture came into my mind i was over whelmed with the spirit i began to cry but not  sad tears they were happy tears and it felt like someone was hugging me and i felt totally at peace and happy and at that moment i knew that the gospel is true and i could never deny it i knew it was true because how others told me but i knew then that it is true. now im sorry that i am not the best example to you as an older brother but i am doing my best and noone understands you like your heavenly father does and i know that for a fact he loves you so very much and i promis that if you read and pray about the book of mormon every day even a verse i promis you will always have the spirit with you and any time you can pray i would always pray on the river when i was rowing threw a rapid or something it was great and i learned to talk with heavenly father and to hear him threw the spirit this las two weeks my companion has been sick so we have been stuck inside most of the time and i have learned to love the book of mormon and i have become a faster reader i have been reading 70 pages in just three hours its nuts i started a couple days ago and already im in mosiah and if you know me that is a very good read but i have become so close with the saviour jesus christ and also if i remember right 2 nephi chapter 29 talks about the holy ghost and also moroni chapter ten verse 5 and 6 they are amazing love ya my kid brother! love Elder Jed!

its so good to hear that everyone is doing so well i am so happy for everyone and all the work that has been going on the drought has been lifted off of the area of moab and the spirit is flowing forth yet again well i better email President Mehr i love you all and miss you so so much Love Elder Hazlett

August 12, 2013

thats fantastic!!! im so glad to hear that eli, weston, jessie and connie are doing so well. I heard that sarah is trying to get an internship with the hospital till january so she would be a great friend to here. its sad that sam woodward passed away he will be rememberd and missed. he is with the lord now!

this week went by really fast on tuesday i went on tradeoffs with Elder creech and he is in caliaqua ware i was when i first came out, it was so good to see the people we went and saw brother lewis who was feeling sorta down on himself and so we talked to him about the sacrament and the spirit was so strong and then he went teaching with us for the rest of the day and in the night we saw the shallow family who remembered me really well and when i walked in they acted as like an angel had appeared it was so good they have been really less active lately and so i basically was prompted by the spirit to teach about gratitude and we sang "count your many blessings" and they came to church yesterday and they are a happy family but alas they are not in our area so we dont see them.

In our area we have been teaching karen who is a refearl from a very strong member and her consern is she has been baptized already and she feels that she doesn't have to be baptized to be a laterday saint and we had another member with us who is lot all there in his head but he is a great guy. we were teaching her and bro. cain asked (in the middle of the lesson when the spirit was so strong) elders have you commited her to baptism yet? and imedatly the spirit left the room and they started argueing and so i shared a scripture about the spirit and brought back the spirit and then we closed the lesson. we just need to be pacient with her and she will understand the authority of god the priesthood!

Elder Payne has been sick for a couple days again this week and i really felt homesick and i wroght you a letter but i have yet to send it! i will when i wright a couple more letters that i have for people in the fam. and branch! also in about 9 hours i read 174 pages in the book of mormon it is really starting to come to life for me!  i hope natali and kendsie are doing good in getting ready to go they will be great missionarys give chris a big hug for me!! i really wish i coulda sceen him before i left but thats ok ill see him just now!!

on a funny note we were teaching a guy who smoked alot and so he was not mentally sound and we were teaching about the true church of god and we explained how there could only be one true church on the earth today and then we asked so how many churches are true today on the earth? and he kinda stared off into space for a secont and then looked at us and said tree? meaning three but they dont say the h lol i about burst out laughing and the lesson was not goin anyware so patience is what it will take with him so ya its good elder payne needs patience lol

well with me i have gotten better at lofe in general i still am horrable at spelling and people make fun of me all the time but thats just fine i dont focus on the bad stuff i focus on the good! anyways i love you loads!!! Love elder Jedediah Hazlett

July 29, 2013

This week elder Payne has been sick and so we have stayed inside most of the week, which is rough because i can't stand being inside for a long time but I have gained a new love for the scriptures. i am in ether already.  My mission is going by way fast it feels like i just left yesterday. i don't have to much to say because we were inside but i did bake and cook everything we could cook in our house the house we are living in is a three bedroom house and its quite nice there is no ac in the house but it cools down to a perfect temperature at night so its great. Any ways this week we had 6 people total at church because there was a cricket match going on and everyone was at it so it was really quiet oh well. i have talked in church every week and we switch off between Elder Payne and I on who teaches the lesson in Sunday school its a blast to be out here. I learned that i only get car sick if i am hungry lol so i just eat before and i'm totally fine!! :)  Love ya! Love Elder Hazlett

Elder Payne and i are doing fantastic! it is elder paynes birhtday today and yesterday we had a wonderful experience and privelage to have Elder Cornish of the quarm of the 70 here to give a devotional and family home evening i got to be interviewed by him! it was amazing he read my mind and knew exactually what to say he told me that if i am greatfull for everything i will feel the spirit more and when i feel the spirit i feel more gratitude!
We are teaching a few people, one is vandick he is an amazing man he reads the scriptures and understands them so well and he is just starting to pray to ask if the book of mormon is true. he knows it is true he is just wanting a sign or something he keeps telling us that he feels great when reading and before and after reading he feels evilness surround him but when he is reading he feels the spirit and he cant put it down. hopefully this week when we teach him the apostacy and how to properly pray he will recieve the witness he is looking for!

George town is quite a ways out of town so we stay the night in kingstown till tuesday its nuts how we are able to work things out here. i have not stopped working out logistics here like we did back home its just for a different purpose sorta both are life changing events for people this is just a long river trip with no river and a lot more work and walking involved! haha one thing with the sisters car they couldn't get there hood up everyone in the zone tried and couldn't. this was a few weeks ago and then yesterday i saw a dent in the hood so i went over and pulled the latch to unlock it from inside the car. Then i walked up to the front and everyone said it wont open and so, knowing me, i opened it in no time and they were all amazed and i was amazed at how simple it was to open lol but alas i didn't get the dent out its covered but i will get it out soon haha i still love cars!
On the other hand i love this gospel more it has been such a great experience being back here it was hard at first and i wanted to come home, but haveing Elder Cornish and President Mehr here with me i got excited for the work again.  i love this gospel and i am thankfull for you all and for the great example all the guides and people in the branch are i love everyone of them and i miss you all dearly but the work bust go on!
